Eureka Menswear Icon Logo.

Welcome back, everyone! Today we’re highlighting a local storeowner, Dan at Eureka Menswear. Eureka Menswear offers new and consigned clothes ranging from formal to laid back, modern to vintage, and Dan wanted a logo as unique as his store. He had mocked up a simple logo that he really liked, but approached Firebrand for help giving it another level of character. After some Q&A with Dan and a brief brainstorming session, we began working up some concepts based on Dan’s ideas, as well as the colors and style of his store!

ORIGINAL LOGO IDEA

We began by recreating the logo design Dan had envisioned, a simple text-based logo with a border. We kept this basic layout throughout the design process, relying on small changes to visually add variety and depth. We also started working with the actual words in the logo: did “new – vintage – consignment” best sum up Eureka! Menswear? We tried out several variations of the text while we worked on polishing the design.

ORIGINAL LOGO VARIATIONS

After confirming the overall layout with Dan, we began to play with the logo, trying everything from colors, to typefaces, to layout ideas; we wanted to give Dan a logo he loved! Knowing that a portion of his store is dedicated to vintage clothes and shoes, we wanted to try incorporating a vintage flair into his logo. Pulling in a ’90s color palate, we put a fun spin onto the logo by adding a pop of color, adjusting the laying, and trying a different font.

ALTERNATE LOGO LAYOUTS

As we worked with the full logo, we also worked to provide Dan with alternate layouts. Alternate layouts are variations of the logo that offer the same brand representation, but with a different visual formation. As seen here, we simplified the Eureka logo and put it in an icon-style format. This format is widely used for websites or profile images on social channels. Having a simple icon variation of your logo is always a plus!

FINAL LOGO DESIGN

After going to Eureka to meet Dan and hear feedback about the designs submitted so far, we were able to craft a logo he loved!

In the final logo design for Eureka, we used a red color as the main color with black accenting it. We also used black outlines on the text to help the letters pop a bit more, and settled on “Vintage – Casual – Dresswear” as the final description.
